Conclusion

The worldwide priority for smallholder finance management and access is undisputed. The large under-utilized potential in the hands of smallholders, especially in Africa, holds promise for both local food security and global solutions to feeding a growing world population.

It is therefore important that effective Smallholder financial management and access is given priority by development partners as it helps to alleviate poverty in rural households and can contribute to ecosystem resilience. Furthermore, successful commercial operators in agri-food chains become responsible for inclusive and sustainable sourcing, while smallholders and their producer organisations (POs) move towards market-quality standards, improved yields and growth opportunities.

Considering the above phenomena, this module will aid in empowering the farmers with the much needed knowledge on financial management, access and inclusion.
